Briefs: Bears whip Amador

Joey Brocchini and Dalton Day led the Summerville Bears to an 8-0 road thrashing of Amador on Monday afternoon.
Brocchini threw the first three innings, faced nine batters, retired them all, struck out five and tossed only 34 pitches.
“This was the Joey of old,” said Bears head coach Larry Gold. “We have a 3-game week and we’ll need Joey again to pitch, so that’s why we pulled him.”
Day then tossed four innings of shutout relief, struck out three and yielded only three hits.
“Dalton came through beautifully and took up where Joey left off,” said Gold. “All three of the hits they got off Dalton were scattered blooping bleeders.”
On offense, Day was an absolute nightmare to Amador. The super-fleet Day went 3 for 5 with two runs scored and four stolen bases.
Summerville scored six in the first inning, two in the second and, thanks to Brocchini and Day, were never bothered.
For Summerville, Wayde Bentley had a single and two RBIs, Bryce Farrell was 2 for 4, Connor Morningstar was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Shawn Dunn had a hit and two RBIs.
The Bears (3-8 Mother Lode League) host Calaveras (9-2) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

The Sonora Wildcats finished third in doubles in the VOL Meet on Friday.
For Sonora, Josh Smith-Andrew Klatt advanced all the way to the finals. Also, Austin Poe-Gavin Ferris and Hunter Vroman-Donald Truong advanced to the quarterfinals.
Wildcats Ian Burkhard-Austin Parge were defeated in the first round. Teammates Michael Campbell-Julian Divine won the feed-in round, but lost in the first round.

Tioga sweeps doubleheader
Tioga swept a doubleheader at home on Friday against Delta Charter, of Tracy.
In the first game, Tioga won 9-6 behind the pitching of Angelo Amoruso. Amoruso went six strong innings before brother Johny Amoruso came in to get the last three outs in the seventh.
Offensively for Tioga, Jon Hilton went 2 for 3 with a double and scored twice. Tyler Mann went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Austin McKinsey went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Johny Amoruso went 1 for 3 scoring twice and knocking in two runs.
In the nightcap, Tioga won 10-9 with Johny Amourso tossing a complete game.
Angelo Amoruso had a big game going 2 for 4 with a 3- run smash over the center field fence. Angelo finished with two runs and five RBIs.
Scott Polmeroy went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Garrett Puerto went 1 for 2 knocking in two runs. Nick Eslick went 1 for 3 and scored a run.
“Our bats coming alive coupled with making the plays on defense earned us the wins,” said Tioga head coach Doug West. “Our boys were ecstatic after the final out in the second game. It was a nice feeling to get two wins under our belts.”
Tioga plays Mountain Oaks in Valley Springs on Thursday at 3 p.m.
