Bret Harte accepts soccer forfeit

Bret Harte High School has accepted a girls' soccer

forfeit from Linden, according to Bullfrogs coach Jennifer Truman.

Linden was scheduled to visit Bret Harte at Dorroh Field on Tuesday night, but cancelled after a Linden student was killed in a car crash near the valley school that afternoon. Bret Harte (14-5-5, 10-3-2 Mother Lode League) receives a 1-0 victory in its regular-season finale.

The Bullfrogs are in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs as either the second- or third-place team

from the MLL. Their final finish depends on the outcome of tonight's scheduled makeup game between Linden and MLL champion Summerville.

If Linden wins, the Lions — currently one point behind the Bullfrogs — will be the second-place team. A Summerville victory or a tie would make Bret Harte the No. 2 team.

The playoffs begin Tuesday, with Bret Harte on the road against either Trans-Valley League champion Hilmar (if No. 2) or Golden Empire League champion Marysville (if No. 3).
