The Bret Harte Bullfrogs cross country team battled the elevation, and also a 3.3-mile course, on Friday at the North Tahoe Kiwanis Invitational.
Running at 6,200 feet, Tristan Boblet paced the Bullfrog boys with a time of 23:01 which was good for 23rd out of 139 competitors.
Also for the Bret Harte boys, Jerrod Wagner finished 56th (24:52), Josh Brady was 73rd (25:15), Tyler Fullerton finished in 31:15 and Darrell Lucas finished seven seconds later.
The top time for boys was a blazing 20:07.
Hayley Rizzi led the Bullfrog girls, and all Bret Harte runners, with a seventh-place finish to earn a medal. She finished the course in 26:35 which was almost three minutes behind the top runner (23:40).
Also for the Frog girls, Amelia Maurer finished 38th out of 100 runners in 29:54 and Alejandra Rodriguez was 50th in 30:47.
Next up for the Bullfrogs, is their own Bret Harte Invitational on Friday at Frogtown. Summerville and Calaveras will also compete among the expected 2,500 runners.
Frosh/Soph—Bullfrog sophomore Nolan Johnson finished fourth out of 63 runners to lead Bret Harte to a third-place team finish. Johnson finished the 2.8-mile course in 20:38, 34 seconds behind first place.
For the Bullfrog frosh/soph girls, Greta Nilsen finished 14th out of 122 competitors to earn a medal. She finished the 2.8-mile course in 24:50.
