Animal rights groups way out there

By LEN ACKERMAN

An editorial by Bill Karr of Western Outdoor News brought out some shocking facts about how far some animal rights groups will go toward their outlandish goals. The information was also on the Internet.

In somewhat condensed form, the information comes from a Virginia sportsman who attended the second annual National Animal Rights Conference in McLean, Va., in July.

This gentleman is a U.S. Fish and Wildlife biologist and former law enforcement officer who hunts, fishes and understands the benefits of proactive fish and wildlife management. He made it clear that the animal rights agenda didnt really attract anyone who was not an animal rights activist, so there were no opposing views to those of the attendees. The man attended the five-day conference out of curiosity to see how radical these people can be.

He found that the current top goal of the animal rights crowd is to turn everyone in the country into vegetarians. To attain that goal, they seek to: (1) ban hunting, fishing, and trapping; (2) ban the use of fur, leather, and animal products; (3) eliminate all fish and wildlife management; (4) ban rodeos and circuses; (5) ban the use of animals in research; (6) ban commercial fishing; (7) ban animal husbandry for meat, eggs, and dairy products.

Also on their agenda is to eliminate all guns and gun ownership worldwide. Some of their beliefs about guns are: (1) they oppress women, minorities and indigenous people; (2) they must be eliminated to finally eliminate hunting; (3) they create violent children; (4) hunter-safety education classes make criminals of children and endanger everyone in society.
