ACRO ACES CLAIM GOLDS

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Athletes representing American Sports Acro and Gymnastics earned two gold medals, a silver and a bronze in the Sports Acrobatics National Competition.

Andrew, Anthony and Aaron Sloan, along with Iain Ward, won a gold in Men's Four at Level 5 for ages 14 through 17. Andrew arrived in Florida with a fever and couldn't practice for three days (he was replaced in workouts by coach Ken Williams), but he was in the lineup by performance time and the team came through.

The other Sonora gold was won by Jessica Williams and Jacqueline Pierce in Women's Pair at Level 6.

The Level 10 trio of Jordan Thomason, Kayla Njirich and Jessica Williams performed the most difficult balance routine of the competition, then won a silver medal as Thomason performed three double back flips.

Jonie Hoefle, Julie Hoefle and Lindsey Henning won a bronze medal in Level 7 Trio for ages 18 and up, competing against loaded field of 18 threesomes.

Softball

Bledsaw Roofing, Sonora Pass Lodge, We're Just Players, and Canning Construction won Tuolumne County Recreation Department summer slowpitch championships last night at Standard Park.

In the Men's F1 division, second-seeded Bledsaw (7-3-1) won 13-1 over No. 3 Lovett Property Development in the semifinals, and then prevailed 15-11 in the finals against No. 4 Paintball Plus (5-4-2), which posted a 16-13 semifinal upset of No. 1 Adair to Build (5-4-1).

In Men's F2, Sonora Pass (10-1) lived up to its No. 1 seeding by winning 11-7 over No. 4 McCoy Tire (1-9) and then beating No. 2 Chris Simpson Painting (7-4) in the finals. Simpson won 7-5 over No. 3 Mountain Alarm (4-6) in the semis.

In Men's Super F, the top-seeded Players (9-2) won 7-0 by over No. 4 Fields Well Drilling (4-6) and 14-4 over No. 2 Pete Terrazas Construction (6-5). Terrazas won its semifinal game 14-9 over No. 3 Eleda Carlson-Remax (5-5).

Women's Super F saw No. 1 Canning (6-4) take the title with a 21-19 victory over No. 3 Bill Murphy Insurance (3-7-1), which was a 12-8 semifinal winner over Blue Mountain Minerals-Outpost (1-8-1).

The summer season concludes tonight with playoff games in Men's Church, F and Super F, and in Thursday Women's E.
