Fire tax To the Editor: Just want to make my comment on the proposed fire tax for GCSD. I believe the district would get more positive reaction if they just ask to raise the fire tax to $100 per improved parcel and $55 for unimproved parcel. The way it is written GCSD wants to raise the fire tax and allow for an increase of approximately 3% each year for the next 10 years. I personally would vote against the proposal as written but if changed I would be happy to support it. GCSD needs to remember that the majority of property owners are seniors on fixed income. Four conservative white guys pandering to, playing to, an unrepresentative base of anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-immigration, anti-tax, anti-government, anti-everything zealots. Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, Paul, are old news in a fast changing world. They are a picture of negativity spewing out vindictive rhetoric on everyone and everything that doesn’t fit in their worldview. Four conservative guys trumpeting Bush era failed economic policies, tossing around pie-in-the-sky promises, on how they’ll move the country forward. This pack no longer represents anything.
