Political display is tasteless, insulting
To the Editor,
I am saddened and dismayed by the display on Phoenix Lake Road of our President.
This tasteless display falls to the lowest denominator of public discourse.
Surely we can have different political opinions without bringing race into the picture. Beyond that, to connect our duly elected president with one of the world’s worst butchers is reprehensible.
It’s a bad example for young people and an insult to people of any political persuasion.
Why say 2002?
To the Editor,
My issue isn’t big compared to a lot of other things, but I wonder why The Union Democrat or Caltrans keeps saying that Phase 1 of the East Sonora Bypass was completed in 2002?
It was 2004, and I’ve pointed this out several times already, with no response!
Here’s how I measure it — I joined the Sonora Sport and Fitness Center in the spring of 2003.
The high bridge over Sullivan Creek was about half finished then.
Viewed from their treadmills, I watched it being completed.
On Easter Sunday 2004, I rode my bike up and down the whole segment.
Everything was finished except for maybe 50 feet of paving at the bridge approaches.
It was opened for traffic soon thereafter.
