The Dream Act
To the Editor:
Am I alone on this? The “Dream” Act goes into effect soon and I feel violated. No one I know supports such a ludicrous idea. Someone violates our laws and is rewarded by having their children’s college education paid for by legal citizens of this state? This just sounds preposterous to me. There’s just nothing I’ve heard nor anything anyone can say to me to convince me that this is a good idea. The purpose of this is so blatant that it’s an obvious political ploy by the Democrats. No true Americans can go along with this. I am a proud descendant of Mexican immigrants and I’m very proud of my Mexican heritage. All of us, with the exception of Native Americans, are descended from immigrants at some point. This abomination of a law cheapens the memory and hard work done by all our ancestors and rewards lawlessness. This is a frontal attack, not only on this State, but on the United States. This ridiculous law can only be the beginning.
