Transportation dept. offers thanks
To the Editor:
The Transportation Department of Sonora Union High School District would like to thank the numerous community members who offered aide and assistance to our stranded school bus drivers during the Tuesday storm.
It is wonderful to live in a community where people look after the welfare of others. Our drivers received offers of everything from the use of bathrooms; hot chocolate; overnight lodging and shovels to help them move forward.
We thank the community for caring.
Chet White, Director of Transportation

This man wants you to volunteer!
To the Editor:
I retired two years ago and wanted to repay the community for what it has given me. I have become a Hospice of the Sierra volunteer, doing home visits to offer some relief to caregivers who have one of the hardest jobs in the world.
I also facilitate a grief group, helping people get through the hard times they experience due to the loss of a loved one. If you are retired or have some free time nothing can bring you more reward than becoming a Hospice volunteer.
I also wanted to mention that women outnumber men in volunteering by a great margin. So guys let’s man up! Call Shauna Burrows at 536-5687 and get the ball rolling.
