More talk about guns, violence and background checks
To the Editor:
Let’s talk guns — one more time.
So ya wanna buy “America’s Gun?” No, not a Musket you moron, an AR-15. Well, let’s get to it.
First of all, the “AR” does not stand for “assault rifle,” it stands for the original manufacturer ArmaLite. However, it is an “assault rifle,” with the military designation of “M16.”
Yes, probably the most prolific killing machine known to mankind. The AR-15/M16 has killed more men, women and children than all the atom bombs ever dropped.
Oh, you say you cannot pass a background check — no sweat, we can pick up your AR -15 online or at the local fairgrounds. Hell, any 9 year old can get any gun they want, so why all the worry?
A certain morbid irony about just picking one up online, you can now find them listed under that other in vogue weapon of mass destruction, the “home made pressure cooker bomb.” But forget about the pressure cooker, two of them killed only one 8 year old and two adults. The AR-15 recently slaughtered dozens of young children and many times more adults. And it only takes a second to throw a hundred round magazine into an AR-15.
Guns — a dime a dozen. Soon, will concealed carry permits also be? So some folks are already switching to nerve gasses, etc. Might as well go for the big kill. Is the NRA going to team up with the chemical manufacturers next? Probably — they know the power of fear and the depth of political cowardice.
The Second Amendment? Don’t worry about it — everyone knows the feds are going to do nothing. It is the states you have to worry about — some states are finally standing up to the NRA.
