Vote Segerstrom for
To the Editor,
As someone who enjoys volunteering in the community, I think it is important to recognize others whose efforts benefit the place we live in.
One such person is my friend Donald Segerstrom. Over the years Judge Segerstrom has served on the YES Partnership and Peer Court, the County Board of Education, the Education-Law Enforcement Partnership, the Tuolumne Narcotics Team Steering Committee, the Sexual Assault Response Team, the Tuolumne County Bar Association, and the Kids Interview Team, which investigates and prosecutes child abuse.
He helped create the Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit and the Financial Abuse Specialist Team. This is the kind of long-term commitment to our county that I would like to see in our Superior Court Judge. On June 5 I’ll be voting to retain Judge Segerstrom.

Day of Prayer
To the Editor,
Thank you to all that attended the 61st National Day of Prayer service at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sonora on May 3.
Christian Women’s Fellowship of Tuolumne County has been hosting a prayer service for the last 13 years. We would like you to put on your calendar for next year (always the first Thursday in May) to join us in prayer for our nation.
There is a lady I’ve known all my life. She is very sick. On top of that, she is being abused by those to whom she has given everything. Lies about her abound, and seem to come from all sides. It breaks my heart.
Seems there is nothing I can do alone. But maybe, if we join in and lift her up, together we can heal her. She’s well over 200 years old, but way too young to die. Her name is “America” and I love her.
Daily prayer is in order starting today. Pray without ceasing.
Vote Torchia for
To the Editor,
Having listened to the divisive Presidential campaign this year it is refreshing to focus on our local campaigns for Tuolumne Board of Supervisors. We have an interesting group of dedicated local citizens willing to work and serve our County. The most attractive of these candidates is one I know personally and one who is uniquely qualified to efficiently represent our interests on the Board.
He is Domenic Torchia. Domenic is a combination of a fiscal conservative with a clear interest in the social, health and educational needs of the ordinary Tuolumne family. He is determined to reduce the cost of local government by consolidating duplicate services, ending unfairly targeted taxes, stopping unnecessary borrowing and creating a transparent budget process, things which are not done at most levels of government.
Domenic is talented and courageous. As an Air Traffic Controller he guided me and many other pilots through crowded airways over the San Francisco Bay area. I am sure he will use those same steely skills as a Tuolumne County Board of Supervisor and honestly represent the interests of all of us without giving in to any powerful big power interests in our midst. I intend to vote for him and invite you to give him your thoughtful consideration.
All letters to the editor regarding political candidates, state propositions and measures C and D must be submitted to our newspaper by 5 p.m. on May 29. No ‘political’ letters will be published after June 1 -— in advance of the June 5 primary.
