The lowdown on downtown business

Union Democrat Opinion Page Editor Craig Cassidy sat down this week with Sonora City Councilman George Segarini, who served as executive director of the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce for 17 years before retiring in June 2013 to run a pair of restaurants with his son. Segarini was elected to the council in 2014 and previously served on the city Planning Commission. 

Topics touched on in this interview included the city budget, adopted Monday, business development, particularly downtown, and the Vision Sonora plan, which proposes several downtown infrastructure projects including the addition of small parks, a new public restroom, a walking path on Stockton Road, parking changes downtown, and an entry arch for the city.
