Lyn Riddle (Editor)

Lyn Riddle has been editor of The Union Democrat since June 2015. She began her journalism career at the Rock Springs Daily Rocket Miner in Rock Springs, Wyoming, a town on the high plains where thousands of workers were building a power plant by day and creating havoc at night. She worked cityside for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner with a cigar smoking city editor who demanded precision in reporting. Jobs as a staff writer and editor at the Greenville Piedmont and News in Greenville, South Carolina came next, followed by 15 years of freelance writing for such publications as The New York Times and Los Angeles Times. She returned to the Greenville News as projects editor and city editor before becoming editor of a community weekly and launching a website that specialized in in-depth reporting. She is the author of four non-fiction books and has taught journalism at colleges in South Carolina. Her goal for the UD is to make it a compelling, must-read for the community.
