Alex MacLean (Government Reporter)

Alex MacLean is the county government reporter and has worked at the Union Democrat since 2011. He has covered courts, police and fire, sport, the environment and written editorial comments on local issues like the drought and water rate hikes. Alex won two first place awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association for his 2014 series on the drought called, "Troubled Waters." Alex is a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University in Phoenix. He grew up in Gilbert, Arizona. Alex enjoys music, reading political books and articles and spending time outdoors. He is passionate about equality and justice and hopes to educate the public on important issues that affect everyone, whether they realize it or not.
