Groveland resident Ronald Pennel died Sept. 21 at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. He was 76.
Mr. Pennel was born in Long Beach and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea.
He was a member of Pacific Service Employees Association, the San Jose Don’s Motorcycle Club and Port Stockton Motorcycle Club.
He was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association and was an AMA representative to Congress for seven years.
Mr. Pennel volunteered at the San Jose Family Camp near Groveland for about 30 years and worked as an electric foreman for PG&E for 38 years.
Mr. Pennel lived in Groveland for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Pennel, in 2004.
Mr. Pennel is survived by his wife, Darlene Pennel, of Groveland; his daughter, Dawn Pennel, of San Jose; his son, Randy Pennel, of Groveland; his sister, Shirley Jacobson, of San Jose; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date.

CLEM — Elizabeth Clem, 59, of Sonora, died Tuesday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
COOPER — Fern Cooper, 87, of Sonora, died Wednesday at Avalon Care Center of Sonora. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
