Jamestown resident Lino Marzi died Aug. 29 at his home. He was 84.
Mr. Marzi was born in Westwood and was raised in Angels Camp, where he lived for 80 years before settling in Jamestown four years ago.
He worked a truck driver for 50 years before retirement.
He was a member of the Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 33 in Murphys for more than 50 years.
Mr. Marzi is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Marzi, of Jamestown; children, Michael Marzi, of San Andreas, Daniel Marzi and his wife, Judy, of Douglas Flat, and Brian Marzi, of Jamestown; his sister, Marina Delaugustino, of Crockett; his stepchildren, Patty Gaines and Jim Gaines, both of Angels Camp; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Ophir Bear Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 33 in Murphys.

Barbara Ann ‘B’ (Tipton) Lopez

Columbia resident Barbara Ann “B” (Tipton) Lopez died Sept. 6 at her home. She was 69.
Mrs. Lopez was born and raised in New York City, N.Y., to George L. and Hertha P. Tipton.
She worked as an executive administrator at Ferromet Steel in Fort Lee, N.J., until her retirement in 1997.
In the early 1960s she taught adult education literacy programs in Harlem.
She moved to the South in 1971 and founded the S.O.S. Animal Shelter in Enterprise, Ala., in the mid-1980s.
While raising her daughter, Mrs. Lopez was active in the Girls Scouts of the USA program, serving as a scout leader.
She was also a member of the Holly Hill Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association.
She reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Ralph Lopez, in 2002.
She moved to California to be closer to him and the couple wed later that year.
In 2004, they retired to Columbia where she became involved in the veterans community.
She enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Mrs. Lopez was preceded in death by her mother, Hertha Tipton, in February 2009.
She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Ralph Lopez, of Columbia; her father, George Tipton, of Englewood, N.J.; her daughter, Laura K. Grimes, of Enterprise, Ala.; her sister, Mary Jane Tipton, of Teaneck, N.J.; and her father-in-law, William DiBenedetto, of Hollywood, Fla.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery, 22394 Lyons Bald Mountain Road, Sonora.
