West Point resident Sharon Lee Price died Sept. 17 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. She was 67.
Mrs. Price was born in Berkeley to Henry and Rose Medina. She retired from Veriflo Corp., where she worked as a payroll administrator. She recently worked as a secretary for Sierra Baptist Church.
She was a member of the American Payroll Association. Mrs. Price was involved with the Southern Baptist Convention, Campers on Missions, Disaster Relief and was a volunteer for Jenness Christian Park.
Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her father, Henry Medina; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth English.
She is survived by her husband, Buddy Price, of West Point; her mother, Rose Medina Gomez, of El Cerrito; her sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Hamm, of El Cerrito, and Steven and Sandra Hamm, of Antioch; her daughters, Sandy Hamm and Adrianne Jonson, of Pacific Grove; stepchildren and their spouses, Melissa Van Cleave, of Jacksonville, Texas, Khristie and Andy McCown, of Jacksonville, Jason and Stacey Price, of Reklaw, Texas, and LeAnn and Marvin Blake, of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory can be made to Sierra Baptist Church disaster relief or Sierra Baptist Church memorial fund.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sierra Baptist Church, 26355 Buckhorn Ridge Road, Pioneer. A private burial will follow at West Point Cemetery.

Oda Thea Schwantje

Former Sonora resident Oda Thea Schwantje died Sept. 22 at her home in Niles, Alameda County. She was 74.
Mrs. Schwantje was born in Swinemunde, Germany. She was a nurse in Germany. In 1969, she moved to Hayward with her husband Werner Schwantje. They raised their family in Newark, where they lived for nearly 20 years.
She and her husband built a home in Prescott, Ariz. and later moved back to California to settle in Sonora. In December 2012, Mrs. Schwantje moved to Niles to live next door to her daughter, Anke Schwantje. She enjoyed animals and had a dog and rooster.
Mrs. Schwantje enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed visiting the ocean, hiking and going to national parks. She liked to serve coffee and cake to friends and family. She enjoyed reading magazines and watching the night sky.
Mrs. Schwantje is survived by her children, Mark Schwantje, Anke Schwantje and Heike Miners; and grandchildren, Alec Ferber, Jens Silke, Kirsten Meiners and Noah Schwantje.
A donation in her name may be made to an animal shelter or charity.
