Kay (Anderson) Gerner
Dec. 14, 1936 — Sept. 11, 2013
Sonora resident Kay (Anderson) Gerner died Sept. 11 at her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Gerner was born in East St. Louis, Ill., to Jack and Gladys Anderson.
She married Robert Gerner in 1955 and traveled with him during his service in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, they settled in the Bay Area, where she worked as a retail sales clerk for eight years.
She retired to Sonora with her husband 25 years ago.
She enjoyed traveling, including trips to Hawaii and Alaska.
Mrs. Gerner was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gerner, in April 1993.
She is survived by her sons, Steven Gerner, of Sonora, David Gerner, of Sonora, and foster sons, Charles Kronschnabel, of Vallejo, and Edward Baptiste, of Jamestown; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private family service has been held.

Charles Roy Lacey Sims
Jan. 5, 1967 — Sept. 11, 2013
Valley Springs resident Charles Roy Lacey Sims died of a heart attack Sept. 11 while staying in San Andreas. He was 46.
Mr. Sims was born in Arizona to Nadine Bachelor and Charles Sims. He served in the U.S. Army in Iraq during the Gulf War.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sims.
He is survived by wife, Sandy Sims, of Valley Springs; children, Austin Sims, Shianne Sims and Charles Sims, of Valley Springs; stepchildren; Aley Rowe and Nathan Rowe, of Valley Springs, and Chauncey Rowe, of Brawley; grandchildren, Alec Rowe, Kiya Rowe and Cali Rowe, all of Valley Springs.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at San Andreas Memorial Chapel, 254 W. St. Charles St., San Andreas.

George Ronald ‘Ron’ Stone
Feb. 22, 1932 — Sept. 10, 2013
Sonora resident George Ronald “Ron” Stone died Sept. 10 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. He was 81.
Mr. Stone was born in Mesa, Ariz., and raised in Salinas, the son of Ray and Edith Stone.
He graduated from Salinas Union High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Doreen Silva, on Feb. 2, 1951.
He worked as a general foreman for PG&E in Salinas, King City and Sonora from 1952 until his retirement in 1993.
He settled in Sonora in 1974, where he served as president of the Rotary Club from 1979 to 1980.
Mr. Stone enjoyed baseball and football.
Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen Stone, in 2003; father, Ray Stone, in 1956; mother, Edith Stone, in 1987; and infant daughter, Lori Ann Stone.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Rhyan, of Sonora; and Gary Stone, of King City, grandchild, Clayton Barnes, of Sonora; brother, Jerry Stone, of Bakersfield; and one great-grandchild.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Humane Society of Tuolumne County, P.O. Box 830, Jamestown, CA 95327.
A private memorial service will be held.

Jeffrey Michael Teem
July 12, 1968 — Aug. 28, 2013
Sonora resident Jeffrey Michael Teem died Aug. 28 at his home. He was 45.
Mr. Teem was born and raised in Sonora, the son of Sharon and Mike Teem.
He graduated from Sonora Elementary and High schools, after which he attended Butte College, where he played football. He later graduated from Chico State University.
Mr. Teem lived in Texas and Georgia, where he worked in the software industry, before returning to Sonora.
He met and married Jennifer Lips in Atlanta but they returned to the Sierra Nevada after the birth of their first child, Amanda. Their second child, Jackson, was born in Sonora.
He enjoyed coaching his son in Junior Cats football. He also liked hunting, fishing, playing sports and spending time in the mountains and on the family ranch.
Mr. Teem was a member of the Sonora Elementary School Board of Trustees and Sierra Bible Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Margaret Camicia and Gordon and Austa Teem.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Teem, of Sonora; his children, Amanda and Jack Teem, both of Sonora; his mother, Sharon McPeeters, of Sonora; father, Mike Teem, of Murphys; sister, Jennifer Schrock, of Sonora; six nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life has been held.
