Nancy C. Gullion

Sonora resident Nancy C. Gullion died Thursday at Avalon Care Center of Sonora. She was 85.
Mrs. Gullion was born in Indianapolis, Ind.
She and her husband, Jim Gullion, raised their family in Santa Clara County before retiring to Sonora in 1990.
She worked at Lockheed Martin for 25 years before retirement.
Mrs. Gullion taught herself to play piano at age 4. She never had lessons or learned to read music but she had the ability to learn songs upon hearing them. She memorized thousands of songs throughout her life, her family said.
She also played the violin, xylophone and organ.
While living in the Bay Area she also entertained professionally, playing piano at restaurants and nightclubs. She most enjoyed playing songs from the 1940s and ’50s.
In her retirement, she volunteered her time and talent by playing at the Tuolumne General Hospital Long Term Care, Adult Day Care and Avalon Care Center.
She also enjoyed animals and gardening.
She was a member of Jamestown Methodist Church for many years, she enjoyed playing the organ at church on Sundays.
Mrs. Gullion was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in February of this year.
She is survived by her three daughters; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday with a memorial service to follow at 9:30 a.m. at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose Ave., Sonora.
Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery including a service led by Pastor Lisa Brown at the committal shelter.

Marian Patricia ‘Pat’ Parker
March 24, 1928 — Oct. 7, 2012
Former Lake Tulloch resident Marian Patricia “Pat” Parker died Sunday in Bend, Ore. She was 84.
Mrs. Parker was born in Bend to Clarence and Grace (Ralston) Bagley. Soon after, her family moved to Eureka, where she graduated from Eureka High School in 1945.
She studied art at California State University, Humboldt.
She married John E. Parker on Sept. 29, 1946, in Carson City, Nev.
Mrs. Parker worked as a registrar at North Salinas High School, in Salinas, for six years. Later she and her husband ran a successful boat store in Los Altos.
The couple retired to Lake Tulloch and lived there for a number of years.
She enjoyed boating, water skiing, playing the piano, gardening and reading. She was also an artist and enjoyed drawing, sewing and crafts.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Chris Darmody and Janice Jackson; and her grandson, Patrick Darmody.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John E. Parker of Bend; her children and their spouses, James E. and Cynthia Parker, of Santa Rosa, Cindy L. and DeWayne Petri, of Bend; her three grandchildren, Todd Darmody, Brett Parker and Lindsay Parker; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Partners in Care Hospice, 2075 NE Wyatt Court, Bend, OR 97701.
A memorial service will be held Oct. 27.
An urn committal service will be held at a later date at Pine Grove Butte Cemetery in Hood River, Ore.
