Todd Russell Garcia

Glencoe resident Todd Russell Garcia died Sept. 23 at his home. He was 52.
Mr. Garcia was born in Oakland and grew up in Castro Valley. He lived in Glencoe for 20 years.
He was owner-operator of a trucking company. He also operated a water tender for Cal Fire.
Mr. Garcia enjoyed cars, four-wheeling, camping and dirtbiking.
Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Kelly Garcia, of Glencoe; his children, Nicholas Garcia, of Mariposa, Michael Bear, of Glencoe, and Rachel Bode, of Placerville; his parents, Ron and Brenda Garcia, of Mountain Ranch; five grandchildren; and his brother, Brian Garcia, of Madisonville, Tenn.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at the West Point Community Hall.

Phyllis Ruth (MacDougall) Auran

Angels Camp resident Phyllis Ruth (MacDougall) Auran died of natural causes at her home. She was 95.
Mrs. Auran was born to James MacDougall and Ruth (Heritage) MacDougall. After losing her mother at the age of 2, she was raised by her mother’s cousin, Edmund Heritage and his wife Charlotte (DeAndreis) Heritage in Alameda.
Her cousins operated the first movie theater in Alameda in the age of silent films. In 1922, she crossed the country with her family from California to New York by car. They visited 26 states over 89 days and traveled 9,000 miles. Her summers were spent at Lake Tahoe where her family built a house and cabins. When she wasn’t helping build the cabins and other chores, she enjoyed riding horses and swimming in Lake Tahoe.
In Alameda, she attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Notre Dame Convent High School. In 1941, she married Cyrus Henry Auran, a native of Minnesota. Together they raised five children in Alameda. They were married for 62 years before Mr. Auran died in 2004.
Mrs. Auran was active in her children’s schools and served as the Mothers Guild president in 1960. She was also in the Young Ladies Institute.
In 1977, the couple moved to Murphys. They were members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the local senior center. The couple also enjoyed many trips around the country and abroad.
Mrs. Auran is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Rebecca Auran, of San Jose, Timothy and Joan Auran, of Burlingame, Theresa Auran, of Dublin, Kathleen and George Wetzel, of Baltimore, Md., and Mary and Daniel Foye, of Arnold; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church, 619 Sheep Ranch Road, Murphys.
