Loren E. Hill

Former Tuolumne County resident Loren E. Hill died Oct. 26 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston, Idaho. He was 88.
Mr. Hill was the youngest of three brothers born to George and Estella Hill in Escalon. He met his future wife, Loree Smith, at the Candy Kitchen in Columbia. They were married for 64 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
After he left the service, Mr. Hill returned to California and had a career with California Department of Forestry where he fought wildland fires for 35 years.
He grew up in Sonora, graduated from Sonora High School and lived in the county until 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Loree Hill, of Grangeville, Idaho; his daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and Ken Stump, of Grangeville, Idaho; his son, Bill Hill, of Lewiston, Idaho; grandchildren and their spouses, Kyle and Jenn Stump, of Driggs, Idaho, Patrick Hill, of Lewiston, Idaho, and Jeffrey Hill, of Santa Barbara.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ed and George Hill; and an infant grandson.
Burial will be held at a later date at Burwood Cemetery in Escalon.
Blackmer Funeral Home of Grangeville, Idaho, handled arrangements.

LEANDRO — Larry Leandro, 60, of Sonora, died Tuesday at his home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
