Roberta Bruton
Feb. 1, 1941 — Sept. 23, 2011

    Twain Harte resident Roberta Bruton died Sept. 23 at her home. She was 70.
    Born in Stockton to William Clyde Wallbridge and Veda Lloyde Burdg, she was later adopted by Jeannie Sawtelle.
    She worked as a Realtor at Professional Realty in Sonora for 16 years and lived in Twain Harte for 27 years.
    She enjoyed various arts and crafts, including embroidery, gardening and donating blood.
    She is survived by her partner, Paul Reinhart, of Twain Harte; parents, Jeannie Sawtelle, of Soulsbyville, and Otto Bertel, of Twain Harte; children and their spouses, Deborah Bruton and Pighe Jones, of Denver, Colo., Kathy Sue and Lee Darneille, of Hixson, Tenn., and David Keith Bruton, of Bayou La Batre, Ala.; sister, Bonnie Catledge, of Gilstrap; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harley Bruton; and siblings, William Clyde Wallbridge Jr. and Zona Mae Oliver.
    A celebration of life is scheduled for a later date.

    Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.


Gregory Barrett
Nov. 14, 1945 — Sept. 27, 2011

    Former Sonora resident Gregory Barrett died Tuesday at Sierra Vista Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. He was 65.
    Born in Chicago, Ill., to Elmo and Evelyn Barrett, the family later moved to Los Altos.
    He graduated from Awalt High School and went on to earn his associate’s degree in drafting from Foothill Junior College.
    He married Linda Hall and the couple settled in Mountain View, where he worked as a fireman.
    The couple later moved to Morgan Hill in 1977, where he owned U-Save Rockery, a building supply company.
    The couple moved to Sonora in 1999 where they lived for three years. They later moved to Nevada before settling in San Luis Obispo.
    He enjoyed carpentry and working on mechanics for classic cars.
    Mr. Barrett is survived by his wife of more than 43 years, Linda Barrett, of San Luis Obispo; children and their spouses, David Barrett and Nozomi Matsumoto, of Morgan Hill, and Daniel and Dee Dee Barrett, of Fresno; grandchildren, Ray Barrett, of Morgan Hill, and Ian, Grace, Meghan and Briana Barrett, all of Fresno; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne Johnson, of Morro Bay, and Dennis Johnson, of California; and a niece and two nephews.
    A service has already been held.
    Benedict Rettey Funeral Home in Morro Bay is handling arrangements.
