Cindy Lou Bruce
May 5, 1956 — Oct. 11, 2011

    Sonora resident Cindy Lou Bruce died Tuesday at her home. She was 55.
    Born in Santa Cruz, to Marvin and Martha Hirschel, she moved to Sonora in 2001 and worked for Albertsons in Sonora until it closed. She later work for the Tuolumne Market.
    She was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed helping at the lodge when she could. She also enjoyed riding her Harley-Davidson Motorcycle with her husband, taking care of her dog named Polar, and spending time with her friends and family.
    Mrs. Bruce is survived by her husband, Ted Bruce, of Sonora; father and stepmother, Marvin and Ruby Hirschel, of San Jose; mother, Martha Hirschel, of Jackson; children, Deanna and husband Aron Adams, of Medford, Ore., and Donnie Benich, of Watsonville; grandchildren, Ashton and Abel William Adams, both of Medford, Ore.; and sister, Kim Hirschel, of Watsonville.
    A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sonora Moose Lodge, 20921 Longeway Road, Sonora.
    Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave., Suite 8, Modesto, CA 95350, or the Sonora Moose Lodge 2183, 20921 Longeway Road, Sonora, CA 95370.
    Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.


    ARMSTRONG — William Armstrong, 86, of Jamestown, died Thursday at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
    EVANS — Gracelyn Evans, 75, of Columbia, died Thursday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
    JACKSON — James Jackson Jr., 89, of Sonora, died Friday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
    PHELPS — John T. Phelps, 55, formerly of Long Barn, died Oct. 6 at Lakeview-Sutter Hospital in Lakeport. He is survived by his son, Ryan Asher Phelps, of Stockton; and siblings, Duane Phelps, and Karen Lawson, of Lake County. A service is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Kelseyville, 6716 Live Oak Drive. Jones Mortuary in Lakeport is handling arrangements.
