Barbara Jane (MacLeod) Agles

Sonora resident Barbara Jane Agles died Nov. 19 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 91.
Mrs. Agles was born in Berkeley, the daughter of Helen Belinda MacLeod and George Howard MacLeod.
She met Earl J. Agles in high school. They married on Oct. 11, 1941, in San Bruno.
She worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s plumbing company in San Bruno for 35 years. She was also a homemaker and raised four children.
The family vacationed in the area for a number of years before settling in Twain Harte in 1978.
Mrs. Agles worked at a couple of Tuolumne County stores in the 1980s and 1990s.
She was a breast cancer survivor and had been in remission since 1992.
Mrs. Agles volunteered with Sonora Community Hospital and Sonora Regional Medical Center for 18 years until January of this year.
She was a member of the Gold Country Social Club. She enjoyed cooking and hosting family and friends for dinner, and traveling to Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. She was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers football team. She also enjoyed camping in her younger years.
Mrs. Agles was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl J. Agles, in 1985; brothers, Robert and William MacLeod; her son, Douglas Agles, in 2001; grandsons, Jeff Grisell, in 2002, and Thomas Alexander, in 2009; sons-in-law, Steve Matzas, in 1998, and Ron Grahek, in 2004; and her grandson-in-law, Rocky Hernandez, in 2004.
She is survived by her children, David W. Agles, of Redding, Diane Matzas and Ken Muscat, both of Dayton, Nev., and Debra L. Grahek, of Soulsbyville; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Agles, of Millbrae; grandchildren and their spouses, Jon and Andrea Grisell, of Gardnerville, Nev., Kristi Agles and Jen Maxwell, of San Francisco, Kelly Agles, of Santa Rosa, Jessica Hernandez, of Sacramento, Tyler and Michelle Alexander, of Soulsbyville, Bryan and Holly Agles, of Rancho Cordova, and Dana and Roy Agles, of San Bruno; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Donna (Rodgers) Lewis
June 1, 1943 — Nov. 16, 2013
Groveland resident Donna (Rodgers) Lewis died Nov. 16 at her home. She was 70.Mrs. Lewis was born in Martinez to Helen and Larry Rodgers.
She met Wallace Lewis in 1979, and they married in 1987.
She studied cosmetology in San Jose and moved to Groveland in 1980. She worked in several salons in the area before running her own salon. She retired in 1986.
Mrs. Lewis enjoyed hiking, history and ghost towns.
She was a longtime supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her mother.
She is survived by her husband, Wallace Lewis, of Groveland; son, David Monroe, of Ely, Nev.; daughter, Diane Armetta, of Santa Cruz; sisters, Linda Stern, of Modesto, and Marnie Ashby, of Arizona; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
