Sonora resident Robert “Bob” E. Benson died Monday at his home. He was 75.
Born in Union Town, Pa., to Glenn and Emma Benson, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
He was a paint and sandblasting contractor and owned his own business in the Bay Area, Bob Benson & Sons. He was a member of Sons in Retirement Chapter 136.
He enjoyed fishing and cars, especially his 1959 Imperial.
Mr. Benson is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Benson, of Sonora; children, Robert R. Benson, of South City, and Timothy P. Benson, of San Carlos; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Benson.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the All Saints Catholic Church in Twain Harte.

Sonora resident Norman Hanes died Saturday at his home. He was 95.
Born in Olney, Ill., to Earl and Mamie Hanes, he served in the U.S. Air Corps and Air Force for 30 years, where he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
He worked as an electronics technician for five years and lived in Sonora for 41 years.
He was a member of the Sonora Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club.
Mr. Hanes is survived by his wife, Marjorie Hanes, of Sonora; children, Geraldine Henshaw, of Dayton, Nev., Linda Theis, of Rocklin, and Sheila Stover, of Sun Valley; siblings, Charles Hanes, of Sonora, Delano Hanes, of Bloomington, Ill., and Dorothy Rosenberger, of Chenoa, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Earl Hanes.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sonora Church of Christ.
