Tuolumne resident Michael Fuentes died Nov. 5 in Tuolumne. He was 57.
Mr. Fuentes was born in Tuolumne and worked as a laborer most his life.
Mr. Fuentes enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking and swimming.
Mr. Fuentes was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Trout; his father, Eugene Fuentes; and his sister-in-law, Betty Shaffer, in 2013.
He is survived by his partner of 20 years, Jo-El Gumpfer, of Tuolumne; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lu Fuentes; his brother, Anthony Fuentes; his sister, Sheila Fuentes; his sister-in-law, Gretchel Ray and her husband, Allen, of Pahrump, Nev.,his son, Michael Fuentes Jr.; his daughter, Georgiana Corcoran-Fuentes, of Utah; his stepson, Elika Gumpfer; his brother-in-law, John Sanders; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall.

George Raymond ‘Ray’ Walker Jr.

Soulsbyville resident George Raymond “Ray” Walker Jr. died Sunday at Meadow View Manor in East Sonora. He was 86.
Mr. Walker was born in Santa Cruz, the son of Hazel and George Raymond Walker Sr.
He repaired TV production equipment in the Los Angeles area for 25 years. He later owned a car wash equipment business in Porterville.
He and his wife settled in Soulsbyville 12 years ago to be closer to family.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, photography and spending time with his family.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Loicene Walker, in 2005; and his grandson, Jonathan Walker, in 1999.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Rod and Pam Walker, of Portland, Ore., Steve and Cheryl Walker, of Porterville, Glen and Becky Walker, of Soulsbyville, and Greg and Lynn Walker, of Twain Harte; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Joslyn Walker, of Porterville, Daniel and Jeni Walker, of Soulsbyville, Erin and Matt Zak, of Portland, Joel Walker, of New York City, N.Y., C.J. Walker, of Twin Falls, Idaho, Megan Walker, of Twain Harte, Lauren Walker, of Twain Harte, James Walker, of Twain Harte, and Nick Walker, of Twain Harte; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sierra Bible Church, 15171 Tuolumne Road, East Sonora.

Mae Catherine ‘Cat’ (Walker) Watkins

Valley Springs resident Mae Catherine “Cat” (Walker) Watkins died Nov. 7 at her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Watkins was born in North Carolina, the daughter of Luna Mae (Kraft) and Walter Noel Walker.
She married Frank Watkins on Dec. 19, 1952, in Henderson, Ky.
She and her husband raised two children in Ontario, Calif.
They settled in Calaveras County 29 years ago because of her husband’s work.
She enjoyed the flowers her husband grew in their garden.
She a was a member of Mount Zion Pentecostal Church in San Andreas.
Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her siblings, Ray Walker and Elsie Todd.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Watkins, of Valley Springs; her children and their spouses, Cheryl and Phillip Shelley, of Valley Springs; and Steve Watkins and Trudy Roberts, of Valley Springs; grandchildren, Crystal Young and her husband, Danny, of San Andreas, and Phillip Shelley Jr., of Valley Springs; three great-grandchildren; and 21 nieces and nephews.
Pastor Ed Sheppherd will officiate a graveside service set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Peoples Cemetery in San Andreas.
San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
