Cathy McNeely, a 16-year Sugar Pine resident, passed away at her home on April 27. She was 55 years old.
Cathy was born in Oakland, Calif., on June 26, 1958. She was a homemaker, a member of the Sonora Baptist Church and loved being a grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lynn Givens, in 2006; and her father, Robert A. Hansen.
Cathy is survived by her husband, William McNeely, of Sugar Pine; her sons, William McNeely III, of Sugar Pine, and Daniel McNeely, of Long Barn; her mother, Dorothy Hansen, of Oakley; her sisters, Karen Newton, of Hayward and Martha Newton, of Fremont; her brothers, Robert E. Hansen, of Los Banos, and Gary Hansen, of Hayward; and her grandsons, Seamus McNeely, of Georgia, and Ryker Kian McNeely, of Long Barn.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Sonora Baptist Church.
Sept. 12, 1943 — April 30, 2014
Daniel Voorhes, a 14-year resident of Soulsbyville, passed away at his home on April 30. He was 70 years old.
Mr. Voorhes was born in South Dakota on Sept. 12, 1943. He served in the U.S. Army and was an electronic engineer for 35 years. He was an avid gamer, a movie buff and had a dry sense of humor. He had a passion for technology, teaching others and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Voorhes.
Mr. Voorhes is survived by his children and their spouses, Adam and Robin Voorhes, of Austin, Texas, DeAnna DeLeon, of Jamestown, Calif., and Jayson and Beth Voorhes, of Sonora, Calif.; her grandchildren and their spouses, Drexxen and Brittany Kieffer, of Citrus Heights, Calif., Miles and Monica Hirshfeld, of Orlando, Fla., Cherokee DeLeon, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mark Voorhes, of Livermore, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Lillian Bouchard, Rylen Kieffer and Cataleya Romani; siblings, John Voorhes, of San Jose, Calif., Ken Voorhes, of Omaha, Neb., Dixie Oates, of San Jose, Calif., and Amy Magee, of Washington.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Heuton Memorial Chapel.

GHIORSO — A funeral service for Norma Jean Ghiorso, 85, of Sonora, who died May 5 at Sonora Regional Medical Center, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose St., Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. A burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
