Sandra ‘Sandi'

Aug. 2, 1944 — April 28, 2004

Sandra "Sandi" J. Sucher-Campos of Sonora died unexpectedly April 28 at her home. She was 59.

She was born and raised in Long Island, N.Y., and had lived in Sonora for one year.

Her family said she loved New York City, antiques, the Schmoo cartoon character, strong-willed pooches, the Beatles before Yoko Ono, Santa Cruz, her yippie past, and most of all, her daughter.

When she lived in New York City, she worked with Abbie Hoffman, co-founding members of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and she worked at Beth Israel's Methadone Clinic. She operated according to the motto, "never pay retail," her family added.

Her family said she was known for her intelligence, wit, generosity and pride.

She is survived by her daughter, Darshan Elena Campos of Santa Cruz and San Francisco; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Bob Cohn of Broomfield, Colo.; a brother, Don Sucher of Peterborough, N.H.; her best friends, Ter Adinolfi of New York, N.Y., and David Boykin of Tuolumne; nieces, Meredith of Fort Collins, Colo., and Allison of New York, N.Y.; a nephew, Aaron of Bedford, N.H.; and her Siberian dog, Sasha, and Persian cat, Mango.

No services are scheduled.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Robert ‘Tony'

Anthne Diebel

Sept. 27, 1964 — May 3, 2004

Robert "Tony" Anthne Diebel of Sonora died Monday at his home after a short illness. He was 39.

He was born in Bakersfield and lived in Sonora for three years. He worked as a fork lift operator for Andy's True Value Home Center for one and a half years. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Coral Sea, and was decorated by former President Ronald Reagan. He was a member of the American Legion and National Jet Boat Association, NJBA.

His family said he liked NASCAR, being with his dogs and he raced blown-gas flat boats.

Mr. Diebel is survived by his wife, Karen Ankele of Sonora; his parents, Robert Diebel and Eva VanHorne, both of Bakersfield; sisters, Traci Childers and Tawnie Diebel, both of Bakersfield; and nieces and nephews in Bakersfield.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Elizabeth Harris

Oct. 3, 1951 — May 2, 2004

Lydia Elizabeth Harris of Greeley Hill died Sunday at her home. She was 52.

She was born in Santa Paula, Ventura County, and lived in Greeley Hill for 16 years. She spent her life as a homemaker and was a member of the Women's Fellowship of Coulterville Christian Fellowship Church.

Her family said she loved Jesus. She also loved crafts, Native American culture, fishing, boating and swimming. She loved her family and was always the "Band-Aid" helping them heal emotionally and physically, her family added.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, John Harris of Greeley Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley and Darren Ferrell of Greeley Hill; sons and daughters-in-law, Tajma and Kim Hickerson of Union City, Alameda County, Jacoby Hickerson of Berkeley, Charles and Rachel Harris of Lake Shastina, Siskiyou County, and Eli Harris of Greeley Hill; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carolyn Campbell of Oroville and Finley and Denise Campbell of Greeley Hill; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jasmine and Forrest Ferrell, all of Greeley Hill, Elijha and Destini Hickerson of Union City and Ember Rose Harris of Lake Shastina; nieces and nephews, Darrell, Becky, Josh, Jesse and Matthew; cousins, Lois Wiggs of Lemoore, Kings County, Nadine Eldridge of Brookings, Ore., and Trisha Gillian of Van Nuys; and many friends in Coulterville and surrounding areas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois Pierce and Jack Campbell.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Coulterville Christian Fellowship Church, 5033 Main St., in Coulterville.

Donations can be made to Coulterville Christian Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 256, Coulterville, CA 95311. Flowers can be sent to the church on Saturday.

Bernice

Gleora Norby

Aug. 14, 1914 — May 1, 2004

Longtime San Andreas resident Bernice Gleora Norby died Saturday at her home. She was 89.

She was born in Scandinavia, Wis., to Ole and Luella Floistad and lived in San Andreas for 53 years. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Murphys.

She and Martin Norby were married on Aug. 27, 1938, in Ellensburg, Wash. In 1946, her family moved to California and settled in San Andreas in 1951.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John Stout of San Andreas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-9 p.m. tomorrow at San Andreas Memorial Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Murphys. Burial is scheduled at Peoples Cemetery in San Andreas.
