Nancy Ann Long

Sonora resident Nancy Ann Long, 76, died May 13 at Sonora Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Long was born in Princess Anne, Md., to Edith M. (Hooks) Long and Raymond A. Long.
She received a nursing degree from Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Md., and worked as a nurse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for 14 years.
Ms. Long was selected to be on the team that oversaw the surgery and post-surgery care of the first transexual operation at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
She then moved to Tucson and opened a cardiology clinic with a cardiologist from the John Hopkins Hospital.
She moved to California in 1980 and began working in the food industry, settling in Watsonville. Mrs. Long moved to Sonora around 1990, and owned the Country Store in Sonora from 1995 until her death.
She enjoyed reading and nature.
Ms. Long was preceded in death by her father in September 1993 and by her mother in March 1995.
She is survived by two sisters, Norma R. Long, of Baltimore, and Linda K. Holsinger, of Berlin-Ocean Pines, Md.
No services will be held at her request.

MITCHELL — A celebration of life for Stephanie Mitchell, 37, of Murphys, who died May 11, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Utica Park, Highway 4, Angels Camp. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
SCHLINK — A memorial service for Ann Schlink, 77, of Soulsbyville, who died May 17 in Sonora, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newark Community Church, 37590 Sycamore St. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
