Francesca Fry-Cyr, 93, of Sonora, died Feb. 28 at Sonora Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Fry-Cyr was born in Akron, Ohio, and moved with her family to California when she was 2.
She was raised in West Oakland and married Eugene Fry in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1972.
Mrs. Fry-Cyr retired from Lockheed Aircraft in 1980 and moved to Sonora in 1982. She met Paul Cyr in 1984, and they were married in 1986. He preceded her in death in 2009.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Crystal Falls-Sonora Meadows Women’s Fire Auxiliary and Figlia d’Italia.
She is survived by her friend and neighbor, Norma Cook, of Sonora, and many nieces and nephews.
She was buried in San Jose next to her first husband.

Sonora resident Shirley Alvenia (Loyd) Nelson died April 28 in Hughson. She was 77.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Blytheville, Ark., to Elven and Vera Loyd.
She and her husband, Donald Nelson, moved to Sonora about 27 years ago after her parents retired in the area.
She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for the family business, Nelson Industrial Electronics, in Sonora, for 20 years until retirement.
Mrs. Nelson enjoyed traveling in her RV, camping, boating and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Benny Loyd, in 1985; and parents.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Donald Nelson, of Sonora; children, Kim Bowles, of Sonora, and Shirl Davis, of Jamestown; and brother, Larry Loyd, of Sonora.
A private celebration of life will be held.

Virginia (Ryan) Stevens
Jan. 22, 1944 — May 11, 2013
Virginia (Ryan) Stevens, 69, of Sonora, died May 11 at her home.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Berkeley to Clyde Raymond Ryan and Mary Dean (Tatum) Ryan, and lived in Sonora for more than 25 years. She had vacationed in Dardanelle as a child, where her family had a cabin.
With her second husband, John Stevens, a truck driver, she had lived all over the country before retiring to Sonora to be near family.
She previously was married to Steven Ralph Ghiglione from 1962 to 1974.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping, watching “Jeopardy” and collecting Precious Moments figurines and other collectibles. She also loved animals.
Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband in 1999.
She is survived by a son, David Ghiglione, of Aptos; a daughter, Barbara Dolman, of Sonora; a sister, Shirley Pfitzer, of Folsom; granddaughters, Sierra Jespersen, of Modesto, and Sydney Ghiglione, of Aptos; grandsons, Maximus and Phoenix Ghiglione, both of Aptos, and Samuel Ryan Randolph Harkrader, of Sonora; and her former husband, Steven Ghiglione, of Watsonville.
No services are planned. She will be inurned at the Tacoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash., where her late husband is also inurned.
