Kenneth Wells, a longtime resident of Sonora, passed away at his home on May 14, 2014. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Wells was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Sept. 2, 1935. He ran the D & D Drive In, worked for Pickering Lumber Co. and was a licensed Realtor and mortgage broker. He also worked as an Economic Development Consultant for Tuolumne County. Mr. Wells was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church for more than 30 years and served as an elder on the church council. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Aahmes Temple Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Jean” Wells in 2008.
Mr. Wells is survived by his wife, Virginia Wells, of Sonora, Calif.; children, Kenneth Wells Jr., of Park City, Utah; Linda Holmes, of Modesto, Calif., and Catharine Wells, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; brothers, Phillip Wells and Harold Wells; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The burial will take place at the Sonora Masonic Cemetery.

James A. Frakes
July 16, 1937 — May 12, 2014
James Allen Frakes went Home to be with the Lord at the age of 76.
Jim was born to James and Dorothy Frakes in Yakima, Wash. He took pride in being a great sheet metal worker, local Union Nos. 162 and 104.
He is survived by his children, Tami Rubalcava and Tim Frakes; grandchildren, Tara Arevalo, Amy Arevalo and Ryan Frakes.
Funeral services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20. Chapel Service at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to All Saints Church, P.O. Box 642, Twain Harte, CA 95383, or Community Hospice of Modesto.
He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
