Longtime Arnold resident Steven Matthew Ferrari died Tuesday night from injuries suffered in an auto accident near White Pines. He was 17.
He was born in Berkeley and had lived in Arnold for 14 years. He was a student at Vallecito High School and was a member of Partners in Recreation.
His family said he loved the outdoors and enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding and riding off-road motorcycles.
Mr. Ferrari is survived by his parents, Tye and Karen VanEaton of Arnold; brothers, Rick Ferrari of Arnold, Robert VanEaton of Murphys, Gary VanEaton of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Kyle Thompson of Murphys; sisters, Jessica Ferrari and Brandy Thompson, both of Arnold; and grandparents, Laudimiro "Babe" Marquez and Gary and Sherry VanEaton.
A service was to be held at noon today at Chapel in The Pines in Arnold.
Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Lea Rasmussen of Tuolumne died Friday, May 7, at his home. He was 74.
He was born in Salina, Utah, and lived in Tuolumne for 15 years. He started his own company, R. Lea Ward Realty in San Francisco, where he worked as a real estate broker for 40 years.
While in San Francisco, he was a member of the Realtors Association and the South End Rowing Club, where he played handball. His family said he enjoyed fishing, keno, animals, the Spanish language, hiking and baseball.
Mr. Rasmussen is survived by his sons, Bruce Rasmussen, Lea Ward Rasmussen Jr. and Rex Andrew Rasmussen, all of Santa Rosa; daughters, Debra Lea Miller and Lyn Denise DuFloth, both of Sonoma, Leslie Ann Sanchez of Rohnert Park, Sonoma County, and Cherie Catherine Rasmussen of Santa Rosa; his longtime companion, Zondra Bietz of Tuolumne; sisters, Jill Pell of Foster City, San Mateo County, and Jackie Leighton of Van Nuys, Los Angeles County; and six grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

Barbara March Cutting of Sonora died Monday, May 10, at a Sonora hospital. She was 86.
She was born in Medford, Mass. She studied the violin from early childhood and graduated from Tufts University in 1936.
She married Don Fairfield in 1937 and later moved to California.
She worked as a kindergarten teacher in Elk Grove for 35 years and was named Teacher of the Year for Sacramento County in 1979. A tree arboretum in Elk Grove was installed and named in her honor after her retirement.
Her husband preceded her in death.
In 1986, she married George Cutting, a fifth-grade sweetheart, her family said, and returned to Medford.
She moved to the Sonora area in 1994. She continued playing violin and piano for the residents of Rose Villa 1 Residential Care Home, formerly known as Cresthaven Residential Care Home, in Sonora.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Allison Fairfield and Paul and Julie Fairfield, all of Sonora, John and Donna Fairfield of Leesburg, Va., and Ralph and Martha Fairfield of Coursegold; grandchildren, Kaeti Crownover and Kelsey, Elias, Leif, Kristin, Angela, Peter and Ben Fairfield; great-grandchildren, Mariah Fairfield and Kelle, Caleb and Brynn Crownover; a brother, Richard March; sisters, Priscilla Bromaghim, Claire King and Diana Dahlquist.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Rose Villa Residential Care Home in Sonora.
