Bernice Eileen             (Dooley) Stuckey

March 29, 1924 — May 8, 2013

Sonora resident Bernice Eileen Stuckey died May 8 at her home. She was 89.

Mrs. Stuckey was born in Bellflower, Los Angeles County, to Walter and Florine Dooley. 

She worked as a manager and owner of several dry cleaners in the San Jose area.

Mrs. Stuckey was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 643 since 1942.

She enjoyed singing, playing piano, traveling and going to Great America with her grandchildren. She was also the “best yodeler in town,” according to family members. 

Mrs. Stuckey was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Edgar “Rusty” Stuckey; daughter, Janis Keith; and sister, Beatrice Fry.

She is survived by her children, Vicki Betzner, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Cheryl Caudill, of Twain Harte, Shelley Colianna and son-in-law, John Colianna, of Sandy, Utah, Marcelle Stuckey, of Sonora, and Brian Stuckey, of Santa Cruz; siblings, Gerald Dooley, of San Jose, and Darlene Austin, of Livermore; grandchildren, John Betzner, of Coeur d’Alene, Steven Betzner, of Arizona, Michael and Daniel Caudill, both of Sacramento, Kimberly Keith, of San Jose, Gary Keith, of San Francisco, Heidi Franklin, of San Jose, Kristopher Colianna, of Arizona, Brandi Colianna, of Gilroy, Courtney Colianna, of Sandy, and Marty Tolliver, of San Jose; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at American Legion 99,1344 Dell Ave., Campbell.

Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. 

Donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of the Sierra, 20100 Cedar Road North, Sonora, CA 95370.

ZACH — Leta Zach, 92, of Twain Harte, died Monday at her home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
