‘Bud' Newton

June 14, 1936 — May 9, 2004

Former Don Pedro resident Charles "Bud" Newton died Sunday at his Victorville, San Bernardino County, home. He was 67.

He was born in West Monroe, La., and lived in Lake Don Pedro for 13 years.

He was a career electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-57.

His family said his greatest joy in life was his family. He was an avid gardener with a special interest in roses and cacti.

He was a colorful character and had a great sense of humor, his family added.

Mr. Newton is survived by his wife of 51 years, Iva Lee (Corbin) Newton; a son, Michael Newton of Twain Harte; daughters and sons-in-law, Shay and Kyle McDonald of Sonora, Paula and Ray Villanueva, Debra Diesel and Rebekah and Alex Gurneal, all of Victorville and Tammy and Carl Gardner of Lake Don Pedro; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles "Charlie" Newton, in 1986.

Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow at Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave. in Merced. A church service is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at the center. Burial with military honors is scheduled at the Merced Cemetery District.

Inland Memorial Mortuary in Colton is handling arrangements.

Eugene Taylor

Sept. 27, 1925 — May 6, 2004

Longtime Altaville resident Leslie Eugene Taylor died Thursday, May 6, at a San Andreas hospital. He was 78.

He was born in Illinois and lived in Altaville for 28 years. He worked as an electrician and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Arnold.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his daughters, Linda L. Stewart of Jamestown and Darlene A. Sanderlin and Mary L. Haight, both of Altaville; sons, Leslie Taylor Jr. of Vernal, Utah, Kenneth Taylor of Norman, Okla., and James Taylor of Altaville; brothers, James A. Taylor, Art C. Taylor, Dick B. Taylor and Ralph "Skip" Taylor, all of Illinois; a half brother, Bobby Quinto of Illinois; sisters, Bertha I. Evans, Bonnie B. Doty and Francis L. Unger, all of Illinois; 25 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Phillip Wade Loflin.

Services were held.

Angels Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

PRICE — Jolisa Jewel Price, 12, of Sonora died Monday at a Madera hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

STOVALL — Former Columbia resident Lucy Stovall, 90, died yesterday at a Bakersfield hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
