Natalie Ruth (Pilegard) Roach

Aug. 16, 1919 — April 26, 2012

Jamestown resident Natalie Ruth (Pilegard) Roach died April 26 at Avalon Care Center. She was 92.

Mrs. Roach was born in Fresno and lived in Jamestown for 41 years. She served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 as a sergeant RA/WAC personnel account specialist. She received the National Defense Service Medal.

She enjoyed traveling by RV across the U.S. with her husband and his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ray Roach. She enjoyed knitting afghans for charity and her church. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sonora. She worked as a keypunch operator at Fresno County General Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Lil Pilegard; her sister Helen Pilegard; and her brother, Ronald Pilegard.

Mrs. Roach is survived by her husband of 56 years, Arnold Roach, of Jamestown; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Frank Maslowski, of Fresno; nieces and nephews Linda and Steve Ladd, of Copperopolis, Mike Roach, of Jamestown, Suzanne, of Fresno, Daphne, of Fresno, Karen, of San Diego, Keith, of Reno, Timothy, of Mississippi, Dale, of Los Angeles, and John, of Hawaii; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon May 3 at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Jamestown City Cemetery. 

A donation in her name may be made to Veterans Memorial Hall in Sonora.

Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. 

Theodore John ‘Ted’ Lewis, Sr.

Nov. 25, 1943 — April 24, 2012

Sonora resident Theodore John “Ted” Lewis, Sr. died April 24 at Stanford University Medical Center. He was 68.

Mr. Lewis was born in San Francisco and was part of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 332 for 45 years. He owned Ted Lewis Electric, Sierra Lighting in Sonora and Greater Expectations Books, Etc., in Twain Harte with his wife. He was a part owner of Diamond Jim’s Restaurant. He served two terms on the Twain Harte-Long Barn Union School District Board of Trustees. He was past president of Twain Harte Rotary and Tuolumne County Contractors Association.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Lane, in 2010; and his brother-in-law, John Tompkins, in 2005.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judi Lewis, of Sonora; children, Ted Lewis, Jr., of San Jose, Kelly Lewis, of Sonora and Scott Lewis, of Clovis; grandchildren, Michael Winkler, of San Francisco, Samantha Winkler and Jacqueline Vaughn, of Sonora, Tyler and Jeremy Lewis, of San Jose, Hailey, Sarah and Drew Lewis, of Los Banos, and Dana, Lily and Jack Hammerstrom, of Clovis; sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene and Barry Brass, of Marietta, Ga. and Robin Lewis, of Tahoma, El Dorado County; his mother-in-law, Betty T. May, of Sonora; and sisters-in-law, Aliceray Golden, of Sierra Village, and Kathy Tompkins, of San Jose.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. May 4 at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, 225 E. Rose Avenue, Sonora. A memorial service will be held at noon May 5 at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery.

PETERS — Helen Peters, 88, of Sonora, died Sunday at Avalon Care Center. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

EDNER — Annette Edner, 97, of Groveland, died Sunday at Skyline Place. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
