Obituaries for March 3, 2003

Bela Kollar

April 2, 1932 — Feb. 24, 2003

Bela Kollar, a former resident of Arnold, died Monday, Feb. 24, at his home in Prineville, Ore. He was 70.

Mr. Kollar was a freedom fighter against communism in Hungary until he moved to the United States in 1956 after the Hungarian Revolution.

He was the dye house manager at Royalty Carpet Mills in Southern California until he retired in 1991.

He lived in Arnold for nine years before moving to Oregon.

Mr. Kollar was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sherrill, in July 1993.

He is survived by his son, Tom Kollar of Angels Camp; two daughters, Sherie Barros of Yucaipa and Sandra Hudson of Marysville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Angels Camp.

Inurnment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Angels Camp.

‘Charlie' Mangrum

Nov. 10, 1951 — Feb. 28, 2003

Charles Allen "Charlie" Mangrum, 51, of Tuolumne died Friday at his home, after a long illness.

Mr. Mangrum was born in Berrien Springs, Mich., to Clifford and Mabel Mangrum.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he served as a paramedic, fireman and warehouse leader for Sharpe's Army Depot in Lathrop, San Joaquin County. He worked there until he became classified a disabled veteran in 1993.

He spent many hours outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. His family said he felt close to the Lord during these trips.

Mr. Mangrum is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Mangrum of Tuolumne; three children, Stacey Mangrum of Stockton, Christopher Mangrum of Manteca and Wendy Mangrum of Tuolumne; seven grandchildren; his mother, Mabel Mangrum of Lodi; and four brothers, Telpher, Michael and Richard Mangrum, all of Stockton, and Ralph Mangrum of Oklahoma.

His father preceded him in death.

Services were to be held today at 2 p.m. at Terzich and Wilson Chapel in Tuolumne. Burial was at Carters Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Hospice of the Sierra, P.O. Box 4805, Sonora 95370-1805.

COLLIER — Ruby Collier, age unavailable, of Tuolumne died Saturday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
