Melvin Leandro
Oct. 3, 1944 — Feb. 19, 2012

    Jamestown resident Melvin Leandro died Feb. 19 at his home. He was 67.
    Mr. Leandro was born in Stockton and lived in Tuolumne County for 39 years. He moved to the county in 1973 with his family to work in the logging industry. He was a logging truck owner and enjoyed flying airplanes and helicopters.
    He owned Mother Lode Truck Driving School with his daughter Kelly, which his family said was the first truck driving program in Tuolumne County.
    Mr. Leandro is survived by his wife, Ramona Coolidge Leandro, of Jamestown; his brother, Lawrence Leandro; daughters and sons-in-laws, Elizabeth and Danny, Tammy and John, and Kelly and Doug; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Brenda; stepchildren Nicole Coolidge, Rhonda Coolidge and Shawn Coolidge; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Country Cowboy Church, 14888 Peaceful Valley Road, Sonora.
    Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Henry ‘Hank’ Cloots
Feb. 25, 1933 — Feb. 28, 2012
    Twain Harte resident Henry “Hank” Cloots died Tuesday at Skyline Place. He was 79.
    Mr. Cloots was born in Norway, Mich., and lived in Iron Mountain, Mich., and Oconomowoc, Wis., before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1970s. 
    Mr. Cloots retired from his career as a mechanical engineer to make his home in Twain Harte 14 years ago. Mr. Cloots enjoyed playing golf, Cajun dancing, carpentry, making golf clubs and photography. He was an inventor with patents in pump-building and fluid bed technologies.  
    Mr. Cloots was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mary Cloots.
    He is survived by his children and their spouses, Lynne Mitchell, of Minneapolis, Minn., Jeff and Susan Cloots, of Redondo Beach, and Heather and Jeff Schramm, of Whitewater, Wis.; his sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Don Swanson, of Iron Mountain; and grandchildren Paul and Corina Schramm, both of Whitewater.  
    A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dambacher Mountain Memorial with lunch to follow at the Twain Harte Golf Club.
    Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.


    PETERSON — Diana Jane Peterson, 74, of Sonora, died Thursday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
    SELBY — Clara Selby, 89, of Twain Harte, died Thursday at her home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
    WILLIAMS — Rachel Williams, 96, of Sonora, died Wednesday at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
