James Stockton Aug. 8, 1936 — March 2, 2012 Sonora resident James Stockton died March 2 at his daughter’s home in Fremont. He was 75. Mr. Stockton was born in Richmond, Va., and was a telecommunications supervisor for 35 years. He lived in Sonora for six years and was a member of the Sons in Retirement group. Mr. Stockton was also a member of Telephone Pioneers and participated in various Sonora Hills activities and clubs. Mr. Stockton was a fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He also enjoyed playing cards and softball. Mr. Stockton is survived by his wife, Connie Stockton, of Sonora; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bob Newray, of Fremont; and granddaughters Katherine Newray, of Morgan Hill, and Stacey Newray, of Fremont. A donation in his name may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Society or a charity of choice. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. March 18 at the Sonora Hills Clubhouse.
