Patricia Marie "Patty" Leppert-Steele, 52, a former resident of Angels Camp, died March 3 at her home in Bellevue, Iowa, after a long battle with cancer.

Ms. Leppert-Steele was born in Dubuque, Iowa, to Robert W. Leppert Sr. and Stella (Carter) Leppert. She lived in Bellevue and attended St. Joseph's parochial school until she moved to Sacramento in 1963 with her family. She graduated from high school in Placerville and later graduated from Delta College in Stockton and became a registered nurse.

She lived in Angels Camp from 1968 to 1998, when she returned to Bellevue to be closer to grandchildren.

She was retired from the California Department Youth Authority in Stockton, where she worked as a registered nurse and infectious control specialist. She also worked for Dr. Robert Marshal and the former Mark Twain Hospital, now Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital, in San Andreas early in her career.

Her family said she loved her family and friends deeply, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was the life of the party.

Ms. Leppert-Steele is survived by her father, Robert Leppert Sr. of Dubuque; her mother, Stella Leppert of Porterville; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Leppert Jr. and Shirley Leppert of Porterville; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Erika Eberhardt of Angels Camp; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacque and Charlie Daugherty of Bellevue; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Cade, Trey and Brin Daugherty all of Bellevue.

A wake and a service were held in Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and two uncles. Kingery Funeral Home in Bellevue is handling arrangements.
