Sonora resident Don Ray Walz Jr. died of natural causes May 20 at his home. He was 49.
Mr. Walz was born in Los Angeles to Don Walz Sr. and Diane (Love) Walz.
He joined the U.S. Army at 18 and was involved in biological weapons.
Mr. Walz worked as a jeweler in San Francisco and lived there most of his life.
He lived in Sonora the last 12 years because friends lived here.
He enjoyed making beaded jewelry, fishing and handiwork.
Mr. Walz is survived by his partner of 12 years, Constance Marinof, of Sonora; his father, Don Walz Sr., of Anaheim; and brother, Tony Lee, of Birmingham, Ala.
No services are planned.

CONNERS — Eunice Conners, 91, of Sonora, died Monday at her home. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
NORRIED — A viewing for Shawn Norried, 49, of Valley Springs, who died of natural causes Sunday at a hospital in Marysville, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at San Andreas Memorial Chapel, 254 W. St. Charles St. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Church of Christ, 703 Paloma Road, Valley Springs, with a graveside service to follow. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
SWASEY — A funeral service for Barbara Swasey, 84, of Sonora, who died Sunday at her home, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Heuton Memorial Chapel, 400 S. Stewart St. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
