Karen

L. Lincoln

Feb. 13, 1936 – June 27, 2004

Longtime Sonora resident Karen L. Lincoln died Sunday at her home. She was 68.

She was born in Oakland and lived in Sonora for 30 years. She worked as a business administrator for 35 years, including 20 years at Sonora High School.

She was a member of Gold Country Social Club, the 39ers Club, Associated School Districts, Sierra Foothills Women's Club and she was a volunteer usher for Sierra Repertory Theatre in Sonora.

Her family said she loved her children and grandchildren and she enjoyed playing cards and traveling.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Sheila Lincoln of Reno, Nev.; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia McAllister of Agoura Hills, Los Angeles County, Garilynn and Walter Logan of Jackson, Ruthlee and David Caloiaro of Carson City, Nev., Juliann and Barry Flores of Galt and Leslie and Eric Miller of Kiefer, Okla.; a sister, Sharon Corriea of Lebanon, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lincoln, in 1989; and a great-granddaughter, Madera Gipner, in 2004.

Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow at Heuton Memorial Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow at the chapel. Private burial is scheduled at Lone Tree Cemetery in Hayward.

Ray Nichols

March 26, 1927 – June 25, 2004

Donald Ray Nichols of Murphys died Friday at a San Andreas hospital. He was 77.

He was born in Omaha, Neb. He had lived in Murphys for two months and previously lived in Carson City, Nev. He worked as a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Louise Nichols of Murphys; his children, Diane Pope and Lawrence Nichols, both of San Jose, Greg Nichols of San Francisco and Dr. Sharon Nichols (Haymond) of Murphys; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Dryden.

A family service will be held at a later date.

George Patrick Sepulveda

June 13, 1959 – June 22, 2004

George Patrick Sepulveda of Sonora died unexpectedly June 22 at his home after years-long illness. He was 45.

He was born in Redwood City and lived in Sonora for four years. He worked as a metal finisher in aerospace and computer industries for seven years.

Mr. Sepulveda is survived by his wife of 20 years, Brandi Sepulveda of Sonora; sons, Nick and George Sepulveda, both of Sonora; a daughter, Jessica Sepulveda of Sonora; his father, George Sepulveda of Redwood City; and a sister, Sherry Nefstad of Redwood City.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Sepulveda.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Donations can be made to the Benefit Fund for Children of George P. Sepulveda, in care of Central California Bank, 229 S. Washington St., Sonora, CA 95370.

Betty Jo Sneed

Nov. 18, 1948 – June 28, 2004

Longtime Columbia resident Betty Jo Sneed died Monday at her home after a three-year battle with cancer. She was 55.

She was born in Wasco, Kern County, and lived in Columbia for 20 years. She owned and operated a retail hardware store in Jackson for 11 years.

Her family said she was devoted to her friends, family and animals. She liked shopping, butterflies and traveling, her family added.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Everett Sneed of Columbia; a brother, Michael Bumgardner of Bakersfield; her parents, L.D. and Doris Bumgardner of Bakersfield; a niece, Kim Ellis of Columbia; friends and business partners, Chris and Sandy Fragapane of Sutter Creek; a friend, Michele Boyd of Bakersfield; and her dogs, Molly and Maggy.

She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Weaver; and a daughter, Christine Weaver.

A chapel service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Columbia City Cemetery.

AIROLA — John William "Bill" Airola, 81, a lifelong Calaveras County resident, died Sunday at his Carson Hill ranch. Visitation is scheduled from 1-6 p.m. today at Angels Memorial Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow at the ranch on Red Hill Road, south of Angels Camp. Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

DARBY — Kenneth John Darby, 47, of Sonora, who died June 22 from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident near Murphys, married his girlfriend of seven years, Christine Elder, in October 2003. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

FOGLESONG — Crystal Foglesong, 40, of Sugar Pine died yesterday at her home. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

KIRSCHNER — Barbara J. Kirschner, 63, of Sonora died yesterday at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

RUCKMAN — Remembrances for Judith Ruckman, 63, of Chinese Camp, can be made to the Ruckman Benefit Fund, in care of Central California Bank, 229 S. Washington St., Sonora, CA 95370. She died June 22 at a Stanford medical center. Heuton Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
