Lorena Prichard

Nov. 12, 1930 – June 22, 2004

Lorena Prichard of Sonora died Tuesday at a Soulsbyville care home. She was 73.

She was born in Reseda and had lived in Sonora since 1986. She gra-duated from Canoga Park High School in Canoga Park, Los Angeles County.

She was married on June 28, 1952, and raised her family in the San Fernando Valley.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Young Ladies Institute. She was a former member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Encino.

She was a homemaker, an avid volleyball player, a talented oil painter and stained glass artist, her family added.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ray Prichard of Jamestown; sons, Dennis Calvin Prichard of Westlake and John Allen Prichard of West Yellowstone, Mont.; grandchildren, Taylor and Parker Prichard both of Westlake and Bridgit Prichard of West Yellowstone; two brothers, Robert Perea of Sonora and Earl Perea of Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph and Frank Perea.

A family graveside service is scheduled today at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Sonora.

Orville

W. Blount

Jan. 3, 1921 – June 22, 2004

Longtime Sonora resident Orville W. Blount died Tuesday at a Sonora care home. He was 83.

He was born in Wode, Okla., and had lived in Sonora for 57 years. He worked as an oiler and trim saw operator for Fibreboard Corp., now known as Sierra Pacific Industries, for 36 years.

His family said he loved collecting coins and stamps, enjoyed sweepstakes and loved life.

He attended Sonora Baptist Church.

Mr. Blount is survived by his sons, Jake Blount of Sonora and Larry Blount of Fairfield; sisters, Jewell Matlock of Kilgore, Texas, and Edna Jordan of De Queen, Ark.; a brother, Tom Blount of Duncanville, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Blount in 1997; and a brother, James Blount, also in 1997.

Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Heuton Memorial Chapel. A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain Shadow Cemetery.

Ernest L. Hill

March 19, 1954 – June 11, 2004

Ernest L. Hill of Tuolumne died unexpectedly June 11 at his home. He was 50.

He was born in Yokohama, Japan, and had lived in Tuolumne for four years. He worked as a farmer for 15 years.

His family said he loved music.

Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Tina Hill of Denair; a son, Robin James Hill of Denair; a daughter, Andrea Marie Hill of Denair; and brothers, Carl Terry Hill of Oakland and Robin Curtis Hill of Ceres.

Services were held.

Judith Ruckman

June 13, 1941 – June 22, 2004

Longtime Tuolumne County resident Judith Ruckman died Tuesday at a Stanford medical center. She was 63.

She was born in San Francisco and had lived in Tuolumne County for 50 years, most recently in Chinese Camp for four years. She previously lived in Jamestown for 16 years. She was a homemaker for 43 years.

She raised exotic birds and was a member of the Gold Country Avicultural Society.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, George and Kathy Ruckman of Groveland; daughters, Virginia and Sarah Ruckman both of Nevada; a sister and brother-in-law, Lenore and Joe Swanberg of Jamestown; grandsons, Paul Garcia of Modesto and Brian Ruckman in the U.S. Marines, currently stationed in Japan; granddaughters, Jennifer Ruckman of Los Angeles, Colleen Ruckman of Turlock and Sarah Ruckman of Groveland; and a nephew, Brett Swanberg of Sonora.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Ruckman, in 2002.

Private burial was held.

Victor John ‘Toodie'

Viglienzoni

Jan. 31, 1924 –June 9, 2004

Former Sonora native Victor John "Toodie" Viglienzoni died June 9 in Las Vegas. He was 80.

He was born in Sonora to Italian immigrants. He graduated from Sonora High School in 1943. He was the youngest son of his family. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In 1961, he moved to Las Vegas where he worked at the Aladdin Hotel as head grou-ndskeeper until retiring in 1984. He was a charter member of the Good Sam Club and was with the AAA for over 50 years. He was a member of the Sonora Elks Lodge for 24 years.

Mr. Viglienzoni is survived by his children, Susan, Nick, Peter, Theresa and Marie Viglienzoni; sisters-in-law, Lucia Oliveri-Grillo of Linden, San Joaquin County, Dorthey Oliveri of Jamestown; nephews, Jim Oliveri, Ernie Viglienzoni and his wife, Anne McClure, and John Viglienzoni all of Sonora.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Louie and Ernie Oliveri and Lawrence and Nick Viglienzoni; and a sister, Kate Oliveri.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Sonora.
