Margaret C. Hodgdon

Margaret C. Hodgdon, 90, of Reno, Nev., passed away on June 13, 2014.
She was born on July 28, 1923, in San Francisco, Calif., to Peter A. and Ellen M. Cooney. Margaret also lived in Saratoga, Calif., for 27 years; Sonora, Calif., for 22 years; and Reno for the past 12 years.
Margaret joined the Navy during World War II and was stationed in Washington, D.C. She worked for IBM after the war and then married her love Arthur in 1948. Margaret was a proud wife and mother, taught piano and was a volunteer for over 20 years at the Tuolumne Medical Library in Sonora.
Preceding her in death were Margaret’s infant son, Joseph; daughter Mary C.E. Hodgdon; and husband Arthur J. Hodgdon of 52 years.
Margaret is survived by son Shawn Hodgdon, of Las Vegas, Nev., daughter Ellen and son in-law Steven Nistler, of Reno, and son Thomas and daughter in-law Holly Hodgdon, of Reno; eight grandchildren, Maritess Hodgdon, Christopher (Jennifer) Hodgdon, Lisa (Roy) Dowding and William Hodgdon, all of Las Vegas and Michael (Christine) Hodgdon of San Diego, Larry (Alyssa) Nistler, Nickolas Nistler and Elizabeth Hodgdon all of Reno, and numerous great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, at Walton Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd St., Reno, Nev.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. June 20 at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Retreat Center, 19101 Bear Creek Road, Los Gatos, Calif.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma, Calif.

Jack Williams, 80, was born in Spencer, Iowa, on April 7, 1934. He passed away on June 13, 2014.
In 1936, Jack and his family moved to California. His parents Art and Louise Williams moved to Calaveras County to start their new lives. Jack lived in Calaveras attending the local schools.
Jack joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 and spent three years stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Jack worked for the Rasmussen Lumber Mill in San Andreas and later took a position with the Calaveras Cement Plant, until the closure of the plant in 1984. At that time, he took a position with the San Andreas Cemetery District.
Jack’s primary interests included his family, the San Francisco Giants as well as the San Francisco 49ers.
Jack is survived by his wife Melinda; children Teri Williams, of Jackson, Calif., Jerry Williams, of San Andreas, Jackie Townsend, of Tracy, Calif., and Ron (Julie) Williams, of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, David, Jonathan and Lauren Townsend, Sydney and Scarlet Williams and Michelle Williams.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel.
Following the services, a reception will be held at the VFW Hall in San Andreas.
