Brown H. Evans

Former Tuolumne County resident Brown H. Evans died Saturday at a Modesto hospital. He was 83.
He was a supervisor of the Tracy Defense Depot for 28 years. He retired in 1970.
He was a World War II veteran and a 50-year member of the Manteca Masonic Tyrian Lodge. He lived in Tuolumne County for 22 years and in Manteca for 30 years before moving to Oakdale, where he lived for the past 10 years.
Family members said he loved gardening and refurbishing older homes.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife of 64 years, Faye Evans of Oakdale; two sons, Larry Evans of Fort Mojave, Ariz., and Phil Evans of Columbia; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Evans, in 1978.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
The family requests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.

Jeffrey Duane Teague died Thursday, June 3, at his home in Stockton. He was 41.
He was born in Antioch and lived in Phoenix for seven years. He was a member of the Phoenix Wrestling Club. Four years ago, he made Stockton his home. He worked as a concrete contractor and was a member of the Masonry Workers Union.
Family members said he enjoyed camping and fishing.
In 1986, Mr. Teague helped rescue a family of four whose boat capsized in the San Joaquin River. He was awarded for his heroism by the Contra Costa sheriff, the mayor of Antioch and the California State Senate.
Mr. Teague is survived by his mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Robert Lyons of Jamestown; son, Travis Teague, and daughter, Karli Teague, both of Phoenix; brother, Brian Teague, and his daughters, Melissa and Michelle Teague, all of Modesto; and many relatives in the area.
Mr. Teague was preceded in death by his father, Charles "Charlie" Teague, in 1986.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Christian Life Center, 9025 N. West Lane, Stockton. Eaton Family Funeral and Cremation is handling arrangements.

Jerry K. Mayfield
June 22,1934 - June 10, 2004
Jerry K. Mayfield died Thursday at a veterans home in Yountville. He was 70.
He was born in Crawford, Neb., and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He owned a corporate collections agency in Southern California for more than 30 years. Later, he moved to Washington and then to the Bay Area, where he worked for AAA. He retired to Sonora in 2001. Mr. Mayfield was a member of the American Legion.
Family members said he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading and eating ice cream with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Steven Mayfield of Southern California, and Greg Mayfield, Neal Mayfield and J.D. Mayfield, all of Sonora; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeniffer and Chris Long of Sonora; ex-wife and her husband, Dalean and Bill Harris of Sonora; and grandchildren, Joshua Mayfield, who is in the Army currently serving in Iraq, Jeremy Mayfield of Southern California, Jonathon Mayfield of Sonora, Susan and Andrew Long of Sonora, Denise and Renee Mayfield of Southern California, and Cerelia Aducci, Dija Aducci and Ari Aducci, all of San Pablo.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at the Veterans Home in Yountville. A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. June 22 at Jeniffer Long's house in Sonora. Call 532-6874. for directions. Treadway & Wigger Funeral Home of Napa is handling arrangements.
