Janet Sue Fisher

Oct. 10, 1933 – June 3, 2004

Mountain Ranch resident Janet Sue Fisher died Thursday at a Stockton hospital. She was 70.

She was born in Avenal, Kings County, and grew up in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo County. She was a real estate agent in Mountain Ranch for more than 25 years and retired in 1998. Mrs. Fisher was a financial supporter of Make A Wish Foundation.

Family members said she was an avid gardener and loved the community in Mountain Ranch.

Mrs. Fisher is survived by her companion Mike Beach of Mountain Ranch; her son Jack Fisher of Reno, Nev.; daughter Denise Santos of Goodland, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer "Dee" Fisher, who died in 1986.

A celebration of her life was held today in the Mountain Ranch Community Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 1401 Halyard Drive, Suite 130, W. Sacramento, CA 95691. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

‘Bud' Kohl

Feb. 10, 1927 – June 8, 2004

Twain Harte resident Frank "Bud" Kohl died Tuesday at a Soulsbyville care home after a short battle with cancer. He was 77.

Mr. Kohl was born on the Kohl family farm in Troy, Mo. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 during World War II and served in the South Pacific as a gunner's mate aboard the USS Iowa. After returning home from the war, he married his high school sweetheart, Helen "Tootie" Hombs, and began his career in the aviation industry. In 1952, Mr. Kohl moved to the Bay Area to begin a 33-year career with United Airlines. In the 1960s, he started to develop land and build homes around Twain Harte.

Mr. Kohl is survived by his wife of 57 years Helen Kohl of Twain Harte; sons Ron Kohl of Loomis, Michael Kohl of San Bruno and Doug Kohl of Twain Harte; daughter Sharon Honerlah of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Sierra, P.O. Box 4805, Sonora, CA 95370. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Joy Lynn

Rachell Gunderson

Oct. 26,1960 – May 3, 2004

Joy Lynn Rachell Gunderson died at her home in Turlock on May 3. She was 43.

She was born and raised in Santa Barbara. At age 18 she moved to Tuolumne County and made it her home for the next 25 years. She built a cabin in the foothills that was later removed by the United States Forest Service. She received the name Morning Star Bell from a friend in the Me-Wuk Tribe.

Family members said she was a painter and loved country music.

Ms. Gunderson is survived by her mother Teri Rivera of Santa Barbara; father Gary Gunderson of Joshua Tree; daughter Rachell Lynn Balbuena of Washington; sister Regina Rivera of Santa Barbara; brothers John Rivera, Gabriel Rivera and Guy Rivera and sister-in-law Vittoria Rivera all of Santa Barbara; grandson Mikey Balbuena of Washington and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.

At Ms. Gunderson's request, her ashes will be scattered in the foothills of the Sierra mountains. A private family gathering was held in Santa Barbara in May.

GRAHAM — Steven Graham, 63, of Sonora died yesterday at a Sonora hospital. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

HILL — Ernest Hill, 50, died Friday at his home in Tuolumne. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
