Earl Albert ‘Sully' Sullivan

Sept. 22, 1917-June 2, 2004

Earl Albert Sullivan died Wednesday, June 2, at his home in Valley Springs. He was 86.

Mr. Sullivan was born and raised in Sturgis, S.D., before moving to Chico, where he earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, Chico. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

After the war, he returned to Chico to finish his degree. He moved to Alturas, Modoc County, after being married just three days. He was a teacher at Modoc High School in Alturas for 32 years. He belonged to the Wool Growers Association, California Teachers Association, the American Legion and was a member of the Alturas School District Board of Trustees.

He moved to Valley Springs in 1995 .

Mr. Sullivan is survived by his wife of eight years, Elsie Sullivan of Valley Springs; children, James Sullivan of Chico, Terry Sullivan of San Ramon, Syble Sigman of Hamilton, Mont.; stepdaughters, Diann Lancaster of Reno, Nev., and Neta Snider of Sacramento; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Singleton, and brothers Albert Sullivan and Leo Sullivan.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley Springs Community United Methodist Church. Private burial will be in Alturas.

Brenda

Irene Franks

April 19, 1962-May 19, 2004

Brenda Franks, 42, of Altaville died Wednesday, May 19, at a hospital in San Andreas of liver and kidney failure.

Ms. Franks was born in Martinez and grew up in Antioch. She attended Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg.

She worked as a caretaker in Contra Costa County for many years before moving to Altaville. She moved to Altaville two weeks before her death to live with her parents, Marie and Bob Schmitz.

Ms. Franks is survived by her son, Kyle Russell of Antioch; her brothers, Billy Franks and Brian Franks, both of Antioch, and Barry Franks of Pittsburg; her sisters Bobbie Benjamin of Antioch and Beverlee Greenaway of Contra Costa County.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Franks.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Antioch City Park in Antioch. Private burial is planned.

Dollie Jean Titus

Dec. 30, 1938-June 4, 2004

Mokelumne Hill resident Dollie Jean Titus died Friday at her home. She was 65.

Mrs. Titus was born in Enid, Okla. She was a bank teller in Washington for 14 years and had lived in Mokelumne Hill for 17 years.

She was a member of Community Covenant Church in San Andreas.

Mrs. Titus is survived by her husband, James Titus of Mokelumne Hill; a son, Douglas Titus of Enid, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

No services are planned. Burial will be private.

HEARSUM — Arnold resident Robert Hearsum, 91, died yesterday at a Sonora hospital.

DINARDO — Sonora resident Dolores Teresa DiNardo, 73, died Tuesday at a Sonora hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sonora. Donations can be made to Long Term Care, Tuolumne General Hospital Foundation, 101 Hospital Road, Sonora, CA 95370.

REGUR — Angels Camp resident Jacqueline Rose Regur, 73, died Tuesday at a San Andreas hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Angels Memorial Chapel in Angels Camp. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilberth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.
