Vernon Wayne Littlepage

Vernon Wayne Littlepage of Sonora died Thursday, May 20,at a Sonora hospital. He was 68.
He was born in San Bernardino and attended Shasta High School in Redding.
He later attended the Lodi Academy in Lodi and, at about age 20, joined the U.S. Army. He attended S.E. Signal School, a school within the U.S. Army, where he majored in radio and electronics. He graduated as a field radio repairman and was then stationed in Alaska. Upon his honorable discharge in 1957, he began work for IBM and worked there 35 years.
He had lived in Sonora since 1989.
His family said he enjoyed cooking, wildlife, computers, electronics and, most of all, his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Littlepage is survived by his son, Robert Littlepage; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Jay Machado and Linda and Chris Boyes; grandchildren, Justin, Jenny, Wayne, Carrie and Tracy; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Donna Rosell; and six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Donna; his mother, Jennifer Kolker; his father, Harold Littlepage; and a sister, Phyllis Schwan.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at 335 Sycamore Drive in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave., Suite 8, Modesto, CA 95350 for Tuolumne County.

Frances Louise (Kellner) Porter

Longtime Sonora resident Frances "Fritz" Louise (Kellner) Porter died Saturday, May 15, at a Saratoga care home. She was 83.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and had lived in Sonora since the late 1960s.
She graduated from Watertown High School in 1938 and worked as a secretary to an attorney. She married Roy Porter in Watertown, N.Y., on Aug. 2, 1947, then moved to Glendale, Los Angeles County. She worked for the elections office in Tuolumne County for many years before moving to Saratoga, Santa Clara County.
She volunteered for the Tuolumne General Hospital Auxiliary during the 1970s and for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary as a secretary in Stockton.
Her friend said she was an avid knitter.
She was a member of the Sierra Rebekah Lodge in Sonora and Freja, a Rebekah lodge in Saratoga. She also was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Watertown, Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49ers in Columbia and Westhope Presbyterian Church in Saratoga.
She is survived by her mother-in-law, Alice Porter of Watertown; and longtime friend, Mary Lillie of Sonora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney and Clarrissa Kellner.
No services are scheduled at her request.

Longtime Tuolumne County resident Dennis Hall Sharon died unexpectedly May 22 at his home. He was 51.
He was born in Kentucky and lived in Tuolumne County for 19 years, most recently in Mi-Wuk Village. He worked as a machinist for 30 years.
Mr. Sharon is survived by his mother, Anna Sharon of Sonora; a brother, Steve Sharon of Sonora; cousins, Gene Sharon of Twain Harte, Allen Sharon of Sonora and George Hope Sharon of Butler, Ky.; and aunts, Marge Frazier of Cincinnati and Mary Lou Wilman of Brooksville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his father, J. Hall Sharon.
Services were held Friday.

SIMMONS A memorial gathering for Melborn "Mel" Norman Simmons, 79, of Twain Harte is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Carkeet Park on the Columbia College campus. He died April 28 at a Sonora hospital. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home handled arrangements.
