Peggy Jean (Dean) Francis

Columbia resident Peggy Jean (Dean) Francis died July 23 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. She was 84.
Mrs. Francis was born Peggy Jean Dean in Cordell, Okla., to Blanche and Daniel Dean.
She worked as a general accounting supervisor in food manufacturing for 31 years in San Leandro until retiring in the mid-1980s.
Mrs. Francis settled in Columbia 22 years ago.
She was a member of Sierra Bible Church and enjoyed traveling.
Mrs. Francis is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Francis, of Columbia; her children, Thomas Francis Jr., of Columbia, and Nancy Ann Cavalieri, of San Lorenzo; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A private family burial will be held at Mountain Shadow Cemetery in Sonora. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sierra Bible Church, 15171 Tuolumne Road, Sonora.

Margie Sue (McReynolds) Kelly
Aug. 24, 1966 — July 27, 2013
Sonora resident Margie Sue Kelly died Saturday at her home in Sonora after a battle with cancer. She was 46.
Mrs. Kelly was born in Waynesville, Mo., to Willie Sue and James Monroe McReynolds.
She married Scott Kelly at Lake Tahoe in 1988.
She moved to Sonora from Valley Springs 10 years ago.
She worked as a surgery technician at Sonora Regional Medical Center for eight years.
She enjoyed dogs, horses, the outdoors and fishing.
Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Scott Kelly, of Sonora; son, Scottie Kelly, of Sonora; sisters, Ruth Elpers, of Texas, Emmalee Lundgren, of Angels Camp, Carmel Johnson, of Jackson, and Eleonore Diehr, of Valley Springs; brothers, Dick McReynolds, of Sutter Creek, and Charlie McReynolds, of Modesto; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Springs Veterans Hall, 189 Pine St.

Barbara Ann (Rollins) Martin
Dec. 10, 1946 — July 28, 2013
Arnold resident Barbara Ann Martin died Sunday at her home after a two-year struggle with glioblastoma multiforme.
Mrs. Martin was born in Oakland to Harold and Berniece Rollins.
She graduated from San Lorenzo High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in music and voice from California State University, Hayward. She earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from CSU Hayward in 1980. She later did graduate studies in educational administration and earned a teaching credential.
She married Gerald Martin on July 26, 1980, in Union City.
Mrs. Martin worked as a principal for Logan High School in Union City for several decades.
She was involved in the music and arts ministry of Redwood Chapel in Castro Valley for several decades from the early 1970s through 2000.
She settled in Arnold 13 years ago.
She served as worship arts director at Chapel in the Pines in Arnold for nearly a decade.
She enjoyed music and worship, the arts, and frequent trips with her husband to Maui, Hawaii.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her father, Harold Rollins, in 2002.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Gerald Martin, of Arnold; her mother, Berniece Rollins, of Arnold; her daughters and their husbands, Carla and Miguel Padilla, of Eugene, Ore., and Barbara and Tom Vanderver, of Brentwood; her brother and his wife, Richard and LouAnna Rollins, of Long Beach; grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Tupou, of Salem, Ore., and Mia, Mason and Madeline Vanderver, of Brentwood; and several generations of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Worship Ministry at Chapel in the Pines, P.O. Box 9, Arnold, CA 95223.
A memorial service officiated by Pastor Chris Kalton will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Chapel in the Pines, 2286 Cedar Lane, Arnold. A meal will follow the service.
