Sean Michael Russell

Sacramento resident Sean Michael Russell, formerly of Lake Don Pedro, died June 24 at Negro Bar State Park in Folsom. He was 21.
Mr. Russell was born in Modesto to Michael and Carol Russell.
He was raised in Lake Don Pedro and moved to Sacramento a year and a half ago. He worked at as a warehouseman at Carpet Collectors-Green Fiber in Sacramento. He participated in board sports of all types, dirt biking, camping, fresh and saltwater fishing, bicycling, abalone diving, playing baseball and basketball. He enjoyed watching San Francisco Giants baseball and listening to a wide variety of music.
He attended high school at Sonora, Tioga and Don Pedro. He graduated from Sonora Union High School Adult Education in 2010 and attended Merced Junior College in 2010.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tiffany Russell, of Sacramento; grandparents, Don and Josephine Royer, of Merced, and Richard and Marjorie Russell; of Sacramento.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Carol Russell, and brother, Adam Russell, all of Lake Don Pedro; his uncles and aunts, Curt and Pam Royer, of Merced, Rick and Lenore Russell, of Sacramento, Mary Ramsey, of Sacramento, Bill and Joan Royer, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Dave and Paula Russell, of Sagle, Idaho; and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lake Don Pedro Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

John H. Berg
Oct. 9, 1924 — June 27, 2012
Former Sonora resident John H. Berg of Yuba City died June 27 at Kindred Hospital in Folsom. He was 87.
Mr. Berg was born in Highland Park. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Los Angeles and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1943 to 1946. He received his associate degree from Pasadena City College.
He married Lucille Feterl on Oct. 14, 1950, and settled his family in La Puente. He worked for most of his career as a sheet metal worker, with his father and brother, Karl, at A.H. Berg and Sons Air Conditioning in South El Monte. He later worked as a shop foreman for Liberty Climate Control.
After his retirement in 1990, he moved to Sonora where he was involved with Interfaith Community Social Services and St. Patrick’s Parish. He moved to Yuba City 11 years ago where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Marian Missionaries of Jesus Christ Crucified, and served as a eucharistic minister at St. Isidore Catholic Church.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and board games He was also interested in military history, trains, airplanes and rebuilding cars.
Mr. Berg was preceded in death by his parents, A.H. and Mary (Kettenbach) Berg; his brothers, Karl Berg, Walter Berg and Robert “Bobby” Berg; his sisters, Cecelia McBride and Frances (Sister Mary Petra) Berg.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille (Feterl) Berg, of Wessington, S.D.; his siblings, Pauline O’Neil, of Laytonville, Elisabeth “Betty” Favello, of Walnut Creek, Larry and Lolita Berg, of San Grabriel, Marty and Shirley Berg, of Lakevew, Ore., and Ralph Berg, of Fresno; his children, Mary Saddler, of Ventura, Vincent Berg, of Petaluma, Paul Berg-Shum, of Sebastopol, Gerard Lalonde-Berg, of Santa Rosa, Ralph Berg, of Monterey Park, Andrew Berg, of Covina, and Annette Clare, of Waldorf, Md.; his sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Saddler, Natalie Berg, Hilda Berg-Shum, Anne Lalonde-Berg, Carmen Berg, Kathy Berg and Warren Clare; his grandchildren, Michaele Saddler, Matt Saddler, Steve Berg, Julianne Berg, Celeste Berg-Shum, Robert Lalonde-Berg, Patrick Lalonde-Berg, Christopher Lalonde-Berg, Brittany Berg, Jonathan Berg, Amanda Berg, David Berg and Allyson Clare.
Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.
A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Yuba City, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m.
A funeral will follow immediately at Sutter Cemetery in Yuba City.
