Richard ‘Dick’ Alford Jan. 16, 1938 — July 3, 2011 Twain Harte resident Richard “Dick” Alford died July 3 at his home. He was 73. Born in Martinez to Mary and Frank Alford, he spent most of his career working in medical sales before starting a new career as the custodial supervisor of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District in 1990. After his retirement in 2000, he moved to Twain Harte. While living in Pleasanton, he coached youth baseball, basketball and football, and was an announcer for swim meets at the Pleasanton Valley Swim Club. In Twain Harte, he volunteered with the Twain Harte Community Sheriff’s Unit, was a member of Sons in Retirement and a board member of both the Twain Harte Golf and Brentwood Lake Clubs. Mr. Alford is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan Alford, of Twain Harte; children, Pat Alford, of Fremont, and Terri Alford, of Sonora; siblings, Mary Alford, of Sonora, and Candy Luce, of Oakdale; and sister-in-law, Ann MacLean, of San Jose. A service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Twain Harte Golf Course. Donations can be made to a charity of choice. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Notices BENSON — William “Bill” Benson, 74, of Twain Harte, died Tuesday at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Twain Harte Bible Church, 23191 Mark Twain Drive, Twain Harte. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements. STRAZI — Paul Strazi, 86, of Twain Harte, died Monday at Mountain Shadow Cemetery. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. |
